Checkatrade Abandoned Us in a Pinch

We were totally reliant on Checkatrade to discover us a competent contractor for our renovation project. We signed up and posted our needs, but unfortunately, we were left in the lurch.

It all starts with their sneaky charges, which they hide in the legalese. Then, there's the terrible helpline that's about as useful as a chocolate teapot. You can try to get your money back, but it's like pulling teeth.

Then, the communication from the "qualified" trader was lackluster/awful/terrible. He was unprofessional/rude/disrespectful and gave us a quote that was outrageous/ridiculous/way too high. We tried to talk about the issues, but he was adamant/unwilling/stubborn to compromise/negotiate/change.

In the end, we ended up having to hire someone else by this so-called "vetted" trader. Checkatrade's helpline was equally useless/incompetent/unhelpful. They offered us a pathetic excuse/blamed the trader/did nothing.

We're left feeling angry and suggest looking elsewhere for your tradesman needs.
